“Cloudy Sunday” (Bulutlu Pazar) song is written by Vassilis Tsitsanis in Thessaloniki Greece probably in 1943. The reason was the tragic events that took place during the German Occupation… Starvation, fear and unhappiness were the characteristics of that period… 40.000 people died of starvation. This song was born by the cloud cover of desperation. Sotiria Bellou and Prodromos Tsaousakis first sang it in 1948. In 1994 Yeni Türkü performed it and since then it is included in Greek – Turkish common songs.
